Kilt Size Guide

Kilt Size Guide

How to Measure for the Perfect Kilt Fit
A kilt is worn differently from ordinary trousers, so please do not order using your usual trouser or jeans size. For the best fit, take your measurements carefully before ordering. We recommend asking someone to help you measure and using a flexible measuring tape.
1

Waist Measurement

Measure around your natural kilt waist, at approximately navel level.

Stand naturally and keep the measuring tape level around your body. The tape should be comfortably firm without pulling too tightly.

Important: Your kilt waist measurement may be larger than your normal trouser waist size.
2

Hip / Seat Measurement

Measure around the widest part of your hips and seat.

Keep your feet together and make sure the measuring tape remains level all the way around.

Do not pull the tape too tightly.

3

Kilt Length / Drop

Measure from your natural kilt waist at navel level down to approximately the middle of your knee.

Stand upright and look straight ahead while someone else measures for the most accurate result.

Standard Length: Our standard men's kilt length is approximately 24 inches unless otherwise stated on the product page.

Made to Measure Kilts

For products offering a made-to-measure option, please provide the exact measurements requested on the product page.

Measurements should be your actual body measurements. Please do not add extra inches for comfort unless specifically instructed.

As made-to-measure and personalised kilts are produced according to the measurements you provide, please check all measurements carefully before submitting your order.

Before You Order

  • Measure yourself rather than relying on your usual trouser size.
  • Measure your kilt waist at navel level.
  • Use inches if the product page requests measurements in inches.
  • Keep the measuring tape level and comfortably firm.
  • Measure twice to confirm your figures.
  • Check the individual product page for any style-specific sizing instructions.
