Refund policy
Return & Refund Policy
At Kilt District, many of our kilts are prepared, handmade or produced specifically for an individual order. Please read this policy carefully before placing your order.
Nothing in this policy affects your statutory consumer rights.
14-Day Returns for Eligible Items
For eligible standard, non-personalised products purchased online, you may notify us that you wish to cancel your order within 14 days of receiving it.
Once you have notified us, you must return the eligible goods within a further 14 days.
Items must be returned in accordance with the conditions below.
Return Conditions
Returned items must be handled only as reasonably necessary to inspect the product, fit and appearance.
Please ensure that the item:
-
Has not been worn beyond trying it on for fit
-
Has not been washed, altered or damaged
-
Is free from marks, odours, pet hair and other signs of use
-
Has its original tags attached where reasonably possible
-
Is returned with its original packaging where reasonably possible
-
Includes sufficient information for us to identify your order
Where permitted by law, we may make an appropriate deduction if the value of an item has been reduced because it has been handled beyond what is reasonably necessary to inspect it.
Made-to-Measure, Personalised & Custom-Made Kilts
Products that are genuinely made to your individual specifications or clearly personalised are not normally eligible for change-of-mind cancellation or return.
This may include kilts that are:
-
Made to measurements supplied specifically by you
-
Produced to a non-standard custom length or specification
-
Personally embroidered or otherwise personalised
-
Altered specifically at your request
-
Made using a special specification requested specifically for your order
Please check all measurements and customisation details carefully before placing your order.
An item is not treated as non-returnable merely because we prepare or assemble it after receiving an order. Where statutory cancellation rights apply, those rights will be honoured.
These exclusions do not affect your statutory rights if an item is faulty, not as described or does not conform to your order.
Handmade Products
Some Kilt District products may be handmade or hand-finished. Small variations in stitching, pleating, pattern positioning, colour or finish can occur as part of the production process.
Being handmade by itself does not remove any statutory return or cancellation rights.
Where a handmade product has also been genuinely made to your individual specifications or clearly personalised, the custom-made provisions above may apply.
Sale & Promotional Items
Sale and promotional products are subject to the same statutory consumer rights as full-price products.
Eligible standard sale items may therefore be returned where a statutory cancellation right applies.
A reduced price does not affect your rights if an item is faulty, damaged, not as described or otherwise fails to meet applicable legal requirements.
Free Gifts & Promotional Gifts
If a free gift was supplied as part of an offer that depended on purchasing particular goods or reaching a minimum order value, the gift should also be returned when the qualifying order is cancelled or returned in full.
If only part of an order is returned and the remaining purchase no longer qualifies for the promotion, we may deal with the promotional gift or adjustment in accordance with the terms of that promotion and applicable law.
Return Shipping Charges
For an eligible change-of-mind return, the customer is responsible for the direct cost of returning the goods unless we have agreed otherwise or applicable law requires us to pay it.
Original express, priority or upgraded shipping charges are not fully refundable where the customer selected a service more expensive than our least expensive standard delivery option.
Where UK statutory cancellation rights apply to an entire eligible order, we will refund the outbound standard delivery cost as required by law.
We recommend using a tracked return service and keeping proof of postage until your return has been completed.
If we supplied an incorrect, faulty or otherwise non-conforming product, please contact us before returning it. We will deal with reasonable return costs as required by applicable consumer law.
Service & Handling Charges
A 10% service or handling charge may apply only where it is lawful to do so and where the charge fairly reflects a genuine cost or loss arising in circumstances not covered by a statutory right to a full refund.
We do not deduct a blanket 10% service charge from refunds where the customer is exercising a statutory cancellation or refund right that requires a full refund.
Any applicable non-refundable charge will be clearly communicated where required and will not limit your statutory rights.
Exchanges
If you need a different standard size, please contact us to check whether an exchange is available.
Customers requesting an exchange because of a change of size or preference are normally responsible for return postage and the cost of sending the replacement item, unless we agree otherwise.
Custom-made and personalised products cannot normally be exchanged because measurements or specifications supplied by the customer were incorrect.
Incorrect Measurements
Kilt sizing is different from ordinary trouser sizing. We strongly recommend following our Kilt Measurement Guide before ordering.
Where a kilt has been genuinely made to measurements or specifications supplied by the customer, we cannot normally accept a change-of-mind return because the customer supplied an incorrect waist, hip or length measurement.
This does not apply where we made the item incorrectly compared with the measurements or specifications accepted with the order.
Faulty, Damaged or Incorrect Products
If you receive an item that is faulty, damaged, incorrect or not as described, please contact us as soon as reasonably possible.
Please provide your order number and, where appropriate, clear photographs showing the issue.
Your statutory rights concerning faulty, damaged, incorrect or misdescribed goods are not affected by our restrictions on change-of-mind returns.
How to Request a Return
Before returning an eligible item, please contact Kilt District and provide:
-
Your order number
-
Your full name
-
The product you wish to return
-
The reason for the return
We will provide the current return instructions and return address.
Please do not send a parcel to an address other than the return address provided in our return instructions.
Refund Processing
Once an eligible return has been received, we will inspect it and process the refund due.
Approved refunds will be returned to the original payment method.
Where statutory cancellation rights apply, refunds will be made within the applicable legal timeframe. Where permitted, we may withhold reimbursement until we receive the goods or receive evidence that they have been returned, whichever occurs first.
Your bank, card issuer or payment provider may require additional processing time after we issue the refund.
International Returns
Customers outside the United Kingdom should contact us before returning an item.
Unless otherwise required by applicable law or agreed by Kilt District, customers are responsible for the cost of returning eligible change-of-mind items and for completing any necessary customs documentation.
Statutory Rights
Nothing in this Return & Refund Policy excludes, restricts or replaces any rights or remedies available to you under applicable consumer law.
